The Realization

I must admit that the main thing I hate about TV commercials
is that there are human beings in them—not always, but most
of the time.

I also hate most of the other stuff on TV that has human beings
talking their talk, which 99 percent of the time goes in one ear
and sails out the other.

Listening to these humans makes me realize that I’m wasting
my time and my life. That what I really need to do is get away
from the box and do other things, even if it’s only twiddling
my thumbs in front of the window or painting by numbers.

This realization also makes me wish I were a wild animal
who could sustain itself off what is most abundant in the forest,
or even the jungle, so long as I was at the top of the food chain
and had more than a fighting chance. . .
